PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the quantity of powder of reducing the diameter of a suction nozzle as going toward the tip and providing a powder sucking port which is brought into contact with a surface to which the powder sticks at the front end of the nozzle, and then, connecting a casing to an evacuating device which is extended from the nozzle. ;SOLUTION: A piece 6 is brought into contact with the surface of a photosensitive drum to which toner sticks and a casing 1 is evacuated by means of an aspirator. As a result, the toner sticking to the surface of the drum within the extend of the inside diameter of a powder sucking port 7 is sucked by suction and caught by a filter 9. Since the piece 6 is made of an elastic material, the port 7 can be closely brought into contact with the surface of the drum even when the surface is curved. In addition, the outer peripheral surface of the piece 6 is constituted in a conical surface, with the diameter of the surface gradually becoming smaller as going toward the front end, the powder sticking to the surface of the drum within the extent of the inside diameter of the port 7 can be sucked. After the powder is caught by the filter 9, a front casing 3 is removed from a casing 2 and the weight of the casing 3 is measured together with a nozzle 5 and measurement cell 8 and the density of the toner sticking to the surface of the drum is detected by dividing the difference between the total weight of the casing 3, nozzle 5, and cell 8 before and after the toner is sucked by the area of the port 7.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
