MEASURING METHOD FOR POLARIZATION MAINTAINING PLANE OF POLARIZATION MAINTAINING OPTICAL FIBER ON OPTICAL CONNECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a measuring method in which a polarization maintaining plane can be measured while a fiber coil is formed by a configuration in which the incident illumination axis of a source does not agree with the imaging-side optical system of a photodetector. ;SOLUTION: In a state that white light which is radiated from a white light source 7 is incident on one edge (incident fiber edge) of a polarization maintaining optical fiber 1 via a beam splitter 3 and an objective lens 2, the other edge (radiant fiber edge) of the fiber 1 is imaged by a CCD camera 4 so as to be expanded via the lens 2 and the beam splitter 3. An imaged image is processed by an image processor so as to be displayed together with a found plane of polarization. In addition, the position of the light source 7 is adjusted in such a way that incident light is focused on the incident fiber edge. In addition, the position of the camera 4 is adjusted in such a way that radiant light from the radiant fiber edge is focused on the camera 4.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
