PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily determine a blend of raw material coating materials for a multicolor forming material in a short time. ;SOLUTION: This coating material blend determining method is used for realizing a multicolor paint film composed of a number of colors when the multicolor paint forming coating material containing color coating particles of limited several colors is prepared, and the blend ratio of the color coating material particles of several colors is determined in the above-side method. In the method, an image of multicolor paint coating film is provided, and the kinds of colors composing the image are analyzed. Based on the respective colors of color coating material particles of several kinds of colors, the kinds of colors composing the image of analyzed multicolor coating film are classified into groups of approximate colors, and the kinds of colors are classified into the number of color groups less than the number of colors of color coating material particles. Then the area ratio of respective colors classified into the groups for the image of multicolor paint coating film is determined, and based on the area ratio, the bland ratio of color coating material particles is determined.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
