PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a product, allowing a good bias magnetic field to be applied thereto, without need of providing a bias magnetic field generating layer at outside by providing a soft magnetic layer for applying the bias magnetic field to a multilayer film. ;SOLUTION: A soft magnetic layer 6 having a soft magnetic material is disposed near a multilayer film 4 composed of laminated magnetic layers 8 and nonmagnetic conductive layers 7 and made to apply a bias magnetic field to the multilayer film 4. A multilayer magnetoresistance effect film 1 is e.g. composed of a substrate 2, lower magnetic layer 3, multilayer film 4, upper magnetic layer 5 and soft magnetic layer 6. The lower and upper magnetic layers 3 and 5 are NiFe thin films, the multilayer film 4 is composed of the nonmagnetic conductive layer 7 and magnetic layers 8 laminated repetitively by 8 periods. The conductive layers 7 are Cu thin films, and the magneticlayers 8 are composed of laminated first Fe magnetic layers 8a and second Ni support layers 8b.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
