PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new antibody useful for confirmed diagnosis of HIV infection, etc., specifically recognizing a human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1gag protein p17 antigen, suitable for detecting the p17 antigen. ;SOLUTION: This new monoclonal antibody is a protein or a peptide derived from HIV-1gag protein p17 antigen, specifically recognizes an amino acid sequence comprising three or more amino acids starting from the N end of the amino acid sequence of the formula, is useful for detecting the p17 antigen and is effective for confirmed diagnosis of HIV infection.
