PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the new subject antibody specifically reacting with a human macrophage migration-inhibiting factor(MIF) having a specific amino acid sequence and useful for the qualitative and quantitative measurements of MIF, the inhibition of infectious diseases, autoimmune diseases, chronic polyarthritis, etc. ;SOLUTION: This new monoclonal, antibody against a human macrophage migration- inhibiting factor (human-MIF) having an amino acid sequence of the formula, and its derivative. The new monoclonal antibody can be used for the qualitative and quantitative measurements of the human MIF and a different kind animal MIF, the diagnosis and therapy of chronic inflammatory diseases and immune control diseases such as primary chronic polyarthritis, etc. The monoclonal antibody is obtained by injecting a purified human MIF together with a perfect Freund's adjuvant into a BALB/c mouse, additionally further immunizing the immunized mouse, collecting the lienal lymphocytes from the immunized mouse, fusing the lienal lymphocytes to the myeloma cells of a mouse, culturing the fused cells in a HAT culture medium, screening an antibody-producing strain, cloning the screened hybridoma, and subsequently culturing the obtained hybridoma.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
