PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet-curing resin compsn. capable of forming a cured coating film in a short time by irradiation with ultraviolet rays to form a light-reflecting portion with a good workability without any problem such as environmental pollution, a process for forming a light-reflecting portion from this compsn., and a high-performance backlight unit produced by using a reflecting material sheet or light guide plate having a light-reflecting portion formed thereon. SOLUTION: An ultraviolet-curing resin compsn. comprising a lig. ultraviolet-curing resin having at least two (meth)acryloyl groups per molecule and having pressure-sensitive adhesive properties after being cured by irradiation with ultraviolet rays, a photopolymn. initiator and a white pigment, optionally further containing a monofunctional (meth)acrylate monomer is applied according to a predetermined pattern on one surface of a reflecting material sheet 2 or a light guide plate 1, and then irradiated and cured with ultraviolet rays to form a light-reflecting portion 3. The reflecting material sheet 2 is then bonded under pressure to the light guide plate 1 by making much of the pressure-sensitive adhesive properties of the light-reflecting portion 3 to effect laminating. The front surface of the light guide plate 1 is convert with a light-scattering sheet 5 while disposing a light source (fluorescent tube) 4 on one side end of the light guide plate 1 to assemble a backing unit 10.
