PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate ground-improvement work and to make it possible to form land in the water area within a short period of time by constituting a man-made island of a hollow installation caisson installed on a poor subsoil and press-in caissons put into the poor subsoil. ;SOLUTION: Press-in caissons 3 are put into a bearing ground H with hydraulic jacks by using an approximately vertical anchor member of point anchorage as a reaction member. Then, the press-in caissons 3 are set to build a beam member on the surfaces of them, and the anchor member is inserted in the upper side of the beam member to install the hydraulic jacks. Then, when the press-in caissons 3 are put into the ground, a barred rod section is expanded in a state of grip, and the press-in caissons 3 are pushed into the ground reactionally by using the anchor member as the reaction member. The press-in caissons 3 are pressed into the ground while controlling the slop or displacement of them with closely connected operation of four hydraulic jacks. The factor of uplift safety of an installation caisson 2 is 1.1-1.5, and after it is monolithically connected to the press-in caissons 3, they are covered with an anticorrosion cap to fill the inside thereof with anticorrosion grease.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
