PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming element for producing an offset printing plate in accordance with a silver salt diffusion transfer method and a process for producing this offset printing plate by using the same. ;SOLUTION: This image forming element has an image receiving layer contg. physical development nuclei on the hydrophilic surface of a base and a photosensitive layer contg. at least one kind of silver halide emulsions having a water permeable relation with this image receiving layer. The silver halide emulsions do not substantially contain silver bromide. The upper part of the photosensitive layer includes an anti-stress layer contg. gelatin which has the water permeable relation with the photosensitive layer and is not subjected to film hardening. In this process for producing the offset printing method, (a) the image forming element is exposed imagewise, (b) an aq. alkaline soln. is applied to the image forming element in the presence of at least one kind of developing agents and at least one kind of silver halide solvents and (c) at least one layers of the upper part of the image receiving layer are removed by processing the image forming element.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
