SOIL-DEGRADABLE SHEET FOR AGRICULTURE AND HORTICULTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare the subject product formed from a biodegradable plastic capable of being degraded in soil with time as a raw material, not necessitating the removal of the sheet after the achievement of an agricultural or horticultural purpose such as the culture of plants and capable of improving non-pollution and the efficiency of agricultural or horticultural works. ;SOLUTION: This soil-degradable sheet is used in a state laid on the surface of soil, and is produced from a biodegradable plastic capable of being degraded in soil with time as a raw material. The biodegradable plastic is preferably a blend comprising at least 40% or more of starch as a main raw material and 15-45% of an aliphatic polyester as an auxiliary material. The further addition of a modified polyvinyl alcohol to the biodegradable plastic enables to adhere the starch particles to each other and thereby form a film. The modified polyvinyl alcohol is preferably added in an amount of 20-30%. The objective product preferably has a thickness of 15-50μm, and the product having a size comprising a length of 2300mm and a width of 700mm is preferable from the point of view of handleability.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
