PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable origin correction with accuracy and achieve cost reduction and space saving by reducing the driving energy of a stepping motor for a period of time during which a rotating member, positioned in proximity to an origin stopper, reaches the origin stopper. ;SOLUTION: When origin correction is to be made, unit pulses U containing thinned-down portions i, i in the first halt and the second half of the duration of pulses, are supplied to windings A, B, C. After the thinned-down portion i in the first half of the duration of the unit pulses U for exciting the winding A, a winding D is excited again for a period shown by R immediately before the unit pulses U for exciting the winding B are supplied. This obtains a torque sufficient for stable rotation and start even at the time of low-speed drive with low driving energy. As a result, when hit against an origin stopper, a rotating member will be brought into contact with it without rebounding, which enables accurate origin correction.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
