PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily control polymn. rate without changing polymn. reaction itself by using a specific trivalent phosphorus compd. as the photopolymn. initiator. ;SOLUTION: A homogeneous soln. of a trivalent phosphorus compd. which generates a phosphorus-center free radical by photocleavage forms a high magnetic field effect soln. Examples of the compd. are triphenylphosphine, diphenylphosphine, and their derivs. In a method for controlling the rate of a chemical reaction initiated by a free radical generated by the photocleavage of a free-radical generator contained in the reaction system as the reaction initiator, a trivalent phosphorus compd. which generates a phosphorus-center free radical by photocleavage is used as the free-radical generator and the photocleavage of the phosphorus copd. is conducted in the presence of a magentic field, thus controlling the reaction rate.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
