PURPOSE: To evaluate a degree of crimping in a crimp fabric by objectively and quantitatively measuring and calculating the degree of crimping and also to feed back the evaluation to manufacturing conditions for a raw yarn and a twisting. ;CONSTITUTION: In the evaluation of a degree of crimping in a highly twisted crimp fabric, intersections of warp and weft are made clear by obliquely shining the light at 45 degree on the fabric placed on a plane without forming deflection. Each distance Li between intersections is determined by using a stereoscopic microscopy and an image-analyzing apparatus on at least 20 points continuously in the direction of a weft under this state. A crimping factor (f) is calculated by applying the measurement results on equation I (K is the number of intersections of weft and warp determined) and the equation f=(L-L0)/L0×100O (L is the L-value in equation I, LO is a constant measuring pitch), and the degree of crimping is objectively determined based on the obtained f-value. Further, the crimping factors (f) are determined on at least 100 warps.
