PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform rapid, automatic, and accurate variation of the vertical position of a blade according to the new size of a ream to be selected. ;SOLUTION: In a large ream selector, a device to control and regulate size contains a driving means 9 attached on a control support unit. The driving means 9 regulates the height of a blade 8 based on a control support unit in two directions by acting on a blade 8 advancing through a pack 2 of a paper material, and the regulation demarcates the theoretical height of a ream being preset and selected. The large ream selector also contains a detecting means 10 to detect one or more values of the height of the pack 2. The detecting means operates a drive means 9 and the position of the blade 8 at the control support unit is varied according to the height of an actual ream 1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
