PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily produce the subject compound having high solubility in water from a mineral acid salt of the compound in high yield without extracting from water. ;SOLUTION: The objective optically active 1,2-cyclohexanediamine can be separated from an optically active 1,2-cyclohexanediamine mineral acid salt by treating the mineral acid salt with an inorganic base (e.g. NaOH) in an organic solvent (e.g. methanol) in the presence of water and removing the precipitated water-containing inorganic salt of the mineral acid and the inorganic base and a hydration product of the inorganic base. The amounts of the water and the organic solvent are preferably 1-10 times mol and 1-10 times weight based on the mineral acid salt of the compound, respectively. The compositional molar ratio of the compound and its mineral acid salt is preferably 3:1, 2:1, 1:1 or 1:2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
