PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate distortion from current waveform and to prevent fluctuation in the output torque from a motor. ;SOLUTION: The dead time compensator comprises means 82 for detecting a phase current being fed to a motor, means 83 for deciding whether a detected phase current is close to a zero-cross, means 84 for inverting the polarity of a detected phase current, and means 81 for performing dead time compensation based on the output pulse width of a PWM signal, the polarity of inverted phase current, and a dead time when a decision is made that a detected phase current is close to a zero-cross. When a phase current being fed to a motor is detected by the phase current detection means 82, the means 83 decides whether a detected phase current is close to a zero-cross or not.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
