BIOLOGICALLY PURE CULTURE PRODUCT OF MICROORGANISM, METHOD FOR FORMING LACTONE, DIOL, COMPOUND AND CYCLIC ETHER

PURPOSE: To obtain a culture product comprising a diol for a synthetic raw material, etc., of a perfume-relating compound, sclareolide, by culturing new specific bacteria in an aqueous nutritious medium containing sclareol, episclareol, etc., under an aerobic condition. ;CONSTITUTION: A culture product comprising a diol having a structure expressed by formula III is obtained by culturing new microorganisms comprising Bensingtonia-ciliata (ATCC20919) and Cryptococcus laurentii (ATCC20920) in an aqueous nutrition medium containing sclareol expressed by formula I and/or episclareol expressed by formula II under an aerobic condition at pH 2.5-9.0, 12-33°C and 0.1-130g/l compound concentration. The diol is used as a synthetic intermediate, etc., of a sclareolide which is a lactone compound expressed by formula IV and useful as a perfume-relating compound.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
