PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optimal output environment in compliance with applications and data size. ;SOLUTION: A memory configuration for three different types for application such as application 1, application 2 and application 3 is registered in the memory configuration table storage device 312 of a printing device 311. If the printing device 311 receives an application name and application data from a host computer 301, the device 311 identifies whether the received data is the application 1. If the received data is the application 1, the device 311 designates the application 1 from a memory configuration table. Memory assignment is set in accordance with a value which is set for the designated application (e.g. in the case of the application 1, banding memory albyte, luster memory a 2 byte, cache memory a 3 byte and work memory a 4 byte).
