DOUBLE-LANE TYPE ESCALATOR (FAST ESCALATOR)

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a user transferrable to another floor at a yet earlier time by adjoining two lanes of escalators different in speed each, together each other. ;SOLUTION: In time of boarding, a user rides in an escalator from a slow lane. After a while the user boards this slow lane, a quick lane appears adjacently. Speed in this quick lane is about two times over that of the slow lane, and a shock in time of transfer is almost the same degree when boarding the slow lane. If it comes just before alighting, the quick lane is over, and the user transfers to the slow lane again as being guided by a handrail or the like, the user gently alights from the slow lane. Thus, such an escalator as having a function saying that slowly when boarding, quickly on the way and slowly at the alighting too, is realizable.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
