NEW POLYPEPTIDE HAVING PROTEASE INHIBITING ACTIVITY AND OBTAINED FROM SAMBUCUS SIEBOLDIANA BLUME OF PLANT OF FAMILY CAPRIFOLIACEAE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polypeptide comprising a specific amino acid sequence, exhibiting strong inhibiting action on serine protease, especially enterokinase, (α-chymo) trypsin, sputum elastase or cathepsin G, excellent in blood stability and useful for treating pancreatitis. ;SOLUTION: This polypeptide is constituted from an amino acid sequence represented by formula I, formula II, formula III or formula IV. The polypeptide is obtained by extracting a flower part containing a floral axis of Sambucus sieboldiana Blume which is a plant of the family Caprifoliaceae or a leaf part of the plant in a fresh state or after drying the flower part with an extraction solvent of 1-5% acetic acid aqueous solution of 3-6 times by amount, treating the resultant extraction solution with a synthetic absorbing agent to afford a crude fraction from which impurities is removed and purifying the crude fraction and isolating the purified material by various kinds of chromatographic methods.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
