PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon monoxide concentration-reducing device capable of sufficiently reducing the concentration of carbon monoxide in a reformed gas produced by the reformation of methanol by disposing a means for introducing an oxidizing gas into a hydrogen-rich gas and a carbon monoxide-oxidizing reaction member having a Pt-Ru alloy catalyst therein. SOLUTION: For example, a fuel reformation device 30 in a fuel battery system 10 is provided with a reformation member 32 for producing a hydrogen-rich gas (reformed gas) from methanol and water fed from tanks 12, 14, respectively, and a partially oxidizing member 34 having a Pt-Ru alloy catalyst therein and used for preferentially oxidizing carbon monoxide contained in the reformed gas with an oxygen- containing oxidizing gas such as air introduced through an introduction pipe 39 into hydrogen. The Pt-Ru alloy catalyst enables to reduce the concentration of the carbon monoxide to several ppm or less at a reaction temperature of 80-100 deg.C without relating to the presence or absence of the methanol. The fuel gas obtained with the fuel reformation device 30 can consequently be supplied to a fuel battery stack 20 which is a solid polymer type fuel battery extremely low in the allowable concentration of the carbon monoxide.
