METHOD FOR REMOVING NONMETHANE HYDROCARBON IN EXHAUST GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove nonmethane hydrocarbon substantially through oxidation while retarding oxidation of methane. ;SOLUTION: A discharge tube 5 having a gas channel 4 is applied with an AC voltage of 10-20kV at 50-100Hz to cause discharge and a sample gas containing hydrocarbon is passed, along with oxygen, through the gas channel 4 under that state. A gas delivered from the discharge tube 5 is passed through a reactor for burning hydrocarbon other than methane filled with a platinum based oxide catalyst heated at 100-150°C.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
