PURPOSE: To accurately notify the overcharge and the life end of a chargeable battery by providing a color changing body of reacting to a hydrogen gas generated in the chargeable battery and changing a color in a case with a built-in chargeable battery so as to be able to recognize it from the outside of the case. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of chargeable batteries 4 (nickel-cadmium battery or the like) are built in a case comprising a body 1 and a lid 2 in the state of being series- connected, and a cushion material is provided in the inner surface of the lid 2 to hold the chargeable batteries 4. An opening 10 is provided in the body 1 and a transparent plate 11 is fitted thereinto, and a color changing body 13 comprising paints containing a very fine inorganic power body (talc or the like which has a particle diameter of approximately not more than 100m)which is covered with palladium oxide hydrate is provided in the recessed part 12. The color changing body 13 reacts to a hydrogen gas when it is leaked from the chargeable batteries 4, and palladium black is produced from the palladium oxide and its color is changed to black and it can be recognized from the outside of the case 3. Therefore, the overcharge and the life end of the chargeable batteries 4 can be quickly indicated.
