PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with simultaneous read without preparing plural texture memories provided with the same copy. ;SOLUTION: The texture memory 11 consisting of independently accessible memory banks 11-0-11-3 is provided. A texel set for constituting a texture image is divided into partial sets for respective texels for which the value of (u mod2, v mod2) is the same for the texture coordinate (u, v) and stored in the banks 11-0-11-3. The value of (u mod2, v mod2) is calculated in texture read parts 13-0-13-3 from the texture coordinate (u, v) within the range of 2×2 generated by texture coordinate generation parts 12-0-12-3, the bank inside the texture memory 11 is selected, a two-dimensional address (u', v') inside the bank is generated by the operation of (u/2, v/2) and the bank is read accessed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
