METHOD AND DEVICE FOR INSPECTING QUALITY OF CARVED CHARACTER

PURPOSE: To inspect the quality of a carved character by picture processing without being influenced by a background part. ;CONSTITUTION: This method is provided with a 1st process (step S1) for irradiating the carved face of a carved character formed by carving with illuminating light from the front face and picking up the image of the carved character from the irradiating direction, a 2nd process (step S2) for irradiating the carved face from an oblique direction deviated from the irradiating direction of the 1st process and picking up the image of the carved character from the direction corresponding to the regular reflection of illuminating light following the 1st process, a 3rd process (step S3) for calculating the feature value of the density of picture data photographed by the 1st and 2nd processes, and a 4th process (steps S4 to S6) for judging that the carved character is thinnly carved when the picture data obtained by the 1st process is thicker than the picture data obtained by the 2nd process.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
