PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the above suppressing agent containing a flavonoid as an active component, suppressing the expression of a heat shock protein group having a specific molecular weight and useful for the treatment of autoimmune diseases related with the protein such as type I diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. ;SOLUTION: This agent for suppressing the synthesis of heat shock proteins having a molecular weight of 57-68kD contains a flavonoid such as quercetin, catechins (e.g. epigallocatechin gallate, epicatechin gallate, epigallocatechin, epicatechin or their isomers), rutin or baicalein as an active component. The agent is preferably administered at a daily rate of 1mg to 10g in terms of flavonoid for adult in 1-4 divided doses by oral or parenteral administration.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
