PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject fiber having practical moist heat resistance and applicable also to woven fabric field necessary to treat with a steam iron by specifying compositions of two kinds of comonomers for copolymerizing with acrylonitrile and specifying an intrinsic viscosity of the polymer constituting the fiber. ;SOLUTION: This acrylic fiber is obtained by spinning an acrylonitrile-based polymer containing (A) a monomer of formula (R1 is H or an alkyl; R2 is a sulfonic acid group, (B) a monomer of formula II (R3 is an ester group) and (C) acrylonitrile as components. The polymer constituting the fiber has ≥180 intrinsic viscosity [η] and monomer composition (x) and (y) (mol.%) of formula I and formula II exist in a region enclosed by (0.47, 4.80) (0.63, 3.83) (0.57, 7.84) (0.32, 8.48). The fiber has ≥5g/d modules in water at 95°C after treating with saturated steam at 118°C in a relax state and ≥35% degree of exhaustion at 100°C.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
