PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a testing device which can investigate the degree of compaction of a filled ground not only around the facial layer of ground but into the depth continuously. ;SOLUTION: A cutter blade 2 is rotated by a motor 7 at a certain revolving speed with a constant penetration force originating from a weight 8, and a torque sensor 4 senss the torque due to the cutting resistance acting on the cutter blade 2 when it is driven into a filled ground G. Meantime a depth sensing part 5 senses the cutting depth in the ground G by the blade 2, and with the data obtained, the degree of compaction of the ground G is investigated into the depth continuously.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
