PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a cord quantity remaining on the reel side in an optional stage by calculating a winding diameter of a cord remaining in a reel by measuring a winding-out length of the cord and reel rotating speed necessary to roll out this, and estimating a residual quantity of the cord from a difference between this winding diameter and a diameter of a reel winding drum. ;SOLUTION: In a device where a cord (a metallic filament body) 2 wound round a reel is wound out of the reel 1 and is wound round a product reel 4 through plural pulleys 3a to 3d, a disk 5 where plural projections 6 are arranged on the peripheral edge is installed on the outside of a flange 1a of the reel 1. Rotating speed of the reel 1 is measured by sensing passing of the respective projections 6 by a detector 7 arranged in the vicinity of the disk 5. A length of the cord is detected as pulley rotating speed by a rotary encoder 8 arranged in the vicinity of a slit rotary plate to co-rotate with a pulley 3b. This pulley rotating speed and reel rotating speed are transmitted to a computing system 9 as a pulse signal, and here, the cord remaining in the reel 1 is estimated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
