DESULFURIZATION OF COAL PYROLYTIC GAS AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the desulfurization of a coal pyrolytic gas during the pyrolysis and desulfurize the gas suitably for a chemical raw material, a fuel, etc., without requiring a desulfurizer by adding quick lime, etc., to coal, pyrolyzing the coal, producing the gas, burning a part of the produced char, generating a high-temperature gas and pyrolyzing the coal with the high-temperature gas. ;SOLUTION: (A) Coal, together with (B) quick lime or calcined dolomite, is fed to a pyrolytic furnace and pyrolyzed to produce a gas and a part of char formed as a by-product is burned in a gasifying furnace to generate a high-temperature gas, which is then used to pyrolyze the component (A). Thereby, hydrogen sulfide produced in the gasifying and the pyrolytic furnaces is removed. The component (B) is preferably added at 1.5-2 ratio of Ca/S expressed in terms of molar ratio based on the hydrogen sulfide in the gas produced in the gasifying and the pyrolytic furnaces.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
