PURPOSE: To dry powder and grain efficiently by partitioning a rotary drum with ventilating barrier walls into a plurality of small sectral chambers, employing each chamber as an independent drying drum and blowing hot air from the lower half face of the rotary drum. CONSTITUTION: A rotary drum 1 is partitioned by a ventilating metal plate 8 into a plurality of small sectional chambers 3 serving as small rotary drums and a barrier wall 9 is disposed at a position for dividing a casing 2 vertically into two. Hot air supplied from a hot air intake port 5 into the casing 2 enters into the rotary drum 1 while passing on the lower halt face thereof. Subsequently, the hot air passes through the lower half small chambers 3L, 3L,... while drying a material A to be dried in the chambers and then passes through the upper half small chambers 3U, 3U,... while drying a material A to be dried in the chambers before being discharged from the rotary drum 1 to the outside through an exhaust opening 4. According to the structure, filling rate of the material to be dried is increased and the material can be stirred and mixed sufficiently in the small chamber 3.
