PURPOSE:To attain the use of the copying machine independently of the time of copying and facsimile transmission by leading an original stacked on a paper feeder section to a read position when the copying mode is selected and leading an original stacked in the opposite direction to that in the copying mode on the paper feeder section to a read position via the reversing section when the facsimile mode is selected. CONSTITUTION:With the copying mode selected, the original to be fed is reversed by a separation roll 30 and sent onto a contact glass 1a by driving a carrier belt 23. Moreover, in case of transmissing the original with the facsimile mode selected, the original is fed to the reversing section 24 by keeping the drive of the carrier belt 23 and lowering the moving stopper 32 downward. Then a changeover claw 34 in the reversing section 24 closed a discharge path and opens the return path to the read position, thereby leading the original to the read position in a way that its transmission face is opposed to the contact glass 1a. Thus, the facsimile equipment is used without any hinderance even in the facsimile mode even with the provision of an optimum automatic original feeder when the copying mode is selected.
