PURPOSE: To prevent vertical displacement of concrete slabs relative to each other at a joint and to enhance the efficiency of construction by enabling cracks in the concrete slabs to be concentrated to joints, thus eliminating as many unexpected cracks as possible. ;CONSTITUTION: A metal or plastic slit joint filler 5, which comprises a flat bottom plate portion and an upright plate portion rising from the bottom plate portion and bent into a V-shaped cross section, is embedded in concrete slabs 2 with the bottom plate portion extending along the lower surface of the slabs and the upright plate portion leading from the lower surface to the upper surface of the slabs.
