PURPOSE: To produce a grain-oriented silicon steel sheet reduced in iron loss by providing a coating film imparting high tension to the steel sheet on its surface. ;CONSTITUTION: An aluminum oxide-silicon oxide composite coating film or an aluminum oxide-silicon oxide-amorphous oxide composite coating film is formed on the surface of a steel sheet. A remarkable tension imparting effect is obtained when the film contains crystalline mullite. A suspension contg. an aluminum oxide precursor compd. and a silicon oxide precursor compd. is applied, dried and then baked at a specified temp. to form the oxide coating film.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
