PURPOSE:To form a two-dimensional finite-length impulse response filter which may have small necessary storage capacity for weight coefficient data by multiplying respective groups of digital data in array by respective weight coefficients of corresponding weight coefficient groups in respective plural successive clock periods. CONSTITUTION:An input image signal on a line 20 is supplied to a memory 22. An array storage part 26, a multiplier group 30, a weight coefficient multiplier 32, and a total calculating means 34 cooperates with one another to constitute a 2D-FIR filter. The 2D-FIR filter filtrates an image signal in a specific area of an image in each of successive clock periods equal to T. Then a control means 62 sends intermediate data intermediate multiplication values stored in an intermediate multiplication value storage part 28 through a line 64 to an adder 48 through a line 50 and the values are added to intermediate data generated for generating output data. This operation is controlled according to a selected mode.
