The water jacket structure in the open deck type cylinder block of the water-cooled engine

PURPOSE:To prevent any refrigerant leakage from occurring by connecting an interval between inside-outside peripheral walls of a water jacket with a reinforcing rib, in a device which opens a deck plane side end of a cylinder block of the water jacket in an annular form. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder block 1 of respective engine blocks B1, B2 of a V-engine has a water jacket 5 of a so-called open-loop deck type whose deck plane 11 side end is opened annularly over the whole circumference. In this water jacket 5, the inside is formed to be deeper in direction of an axis L1 of a cylinder bore 7 and the outside to be shallower, respectively. In this case, a pair of reinforcing ribs 91, 92 connecting an interval between the inside-outside peripheral walls 5i, 5o are formed in the water jacket 5 along a rectilinear diameter almost orthogonal with an axis of the cylinder block 1. In this connec tion, each deck plane side end edge of these ribs 91, 92 is formed so as not to be reached to the deck plane 11.
