PURPOSE: To obtain a new nontoxic dye showing colors from blue to bluish purple, by combining a p-phenylenediamine substituted at the 2-position of the benzene ring with a m-phenylenediamine derivative, having both strength and fastness. ;CONSTITUTION: This oxidation dyeing composition for keratinous fibers such as hair is obtained by adding a p-phenylenediamine derivative of formula I ((m) is 0 or 1; (n) is 1-4) or its acid addition salt as an oxidation dye precursor substance and a m-phenylenediamine derivative of formula II [R₁ is H, an alkyl, etc.; R₂ is H, a mono- or polyhydroxyalkoxy; R³ is an alkyl, a mono- or polyhydroxyalkyl, an aminoalkyl, etc.] or its acid addition salt as a coupling agent to a proper solvent. This new dye has durability, no toxicity and sufficient fastness especially to light rays, cleaning, severe weather, sweating and various treatments to be applied to hair.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
