PURPOSE:To automate switching to a stopped state through simple constitution by making the part to be anchored of a push button lever for high-speed feeding shorter than the part to be anchored of the push button lever for reproducing so that the push button lever for high speed feeding is released and reset when a tape comes to its end in a high-speed feeding mode. CONSTITUTION:When the tape comes to its end, a tape end detecting mechanism operates, and a tape traveling direction switching mechanism is operated to switch, and an anchoring plate 27 is moved by definite distance L. In this case, the part 37 to be anchored of the push button lever 16 for reproducing operation and the parts 36, 38 to be anchored of the push button levers 15, 17 for high-speed feeding are different in their lengths in the reciproca tion direction of the anchoring plate 27, and the part 37 to be anchored of the push button lever 16 for reproducing operation is longer than the movement distance L of the anchoring plate 27, and the parts 36, 38 to be anchored of the push button levers 15, 17 for high-speed feeding are shorter than the movement distance L of the anchoring plate 27. Thus, even when the tape comes to its end in the reproducing mode, the tape traveling direction is switched while the push button lever 16 for reproducing operation is not released, and when the tape comes to its end in the high-speed feeding mode, the push button levers 15, 17 for high-speed operation are released from their being held, and are reset and switched to the stopped state.
