Cosmetic and dermatological compositions contg. at least one salicylic acid derivative of formula (I) solubilised by at least one vegetable oil (II), the ratio of (II) : (I) being above 5, are new. R = 3-11C saturated (straight, branched or cyclic) aliphatic chain or 3-17C unsaturated aliphatic chain opt. having 1 or more conjugated double bonds, both opt. substd. by halo; CF3; OH opt esterified by a 1-6C acid; or carboxy which may be esterified by a 1-6C alcohol; R' = OH or -OCO-R1; R1 = 1-18C saturated or unsaturated aliphatic group. A process for solubilising any salicylic acid derivative by means of a vegetable oil, the ratio of oil to acid being above 5, is also claimed.
