New anti- tumor antibiotic SF2575 material and the manufacturing method

NEW MATERIAL:An antibiotic SF2575 substance. USE:Useful as an antitumor agent. The substance exhibits an antibacterial activity against a kind of gram-positive bacteria and further a strong antitumor action against mouse leukemia P-388. PREPARATION:A SF2575 substance-producing bacterium belonging to the genus Streptomyces is cultured and the SF2575 substance is collected from the cultured product. Known nutritive sources heretofore utilized for the culture of Actinomyces bacteria can be used as nutritive sources for the above culture. A culturing method under an aerobic condition, especially a deep culturing method is most suitable as the culturing method of the bacterium. The culturing temperature is approximately 28 deg.C in many cases. The novel SF2575 substance has the following characteristics. Pale yellow needle-like crystals; melting point: 191-193 deg.C; molecular formula: C40H43NO15; elementary analysis: C 61.41%, H 5.68% and N 1.64%; soluble in methanol, ethyl acetate etc., and insoluble in n-hexane.
