PURPOSE:To discriminate optimum time of collection, by partially taking out tea leaves during operation at any time in process of tea manufacturing, putting the tea leaves in a discrimination container equipped with electrodes, measuring electrical resistance between the electrodes in a state of application of fixed pressing force and comparing the measured value with a set value. CONSTITUTION:In one process of tea manufacturing, at any time, tea leaves during operation are partially taken out, put in a discrimination container equipped with electrodes 21 and electrical resistance or electrostatic capacity between the electrodes 21 is measured in a state wherein the tea leaves are pressed by a pressing plate 17 through fixed pressurizing force. The measured value is compared with a preset value to discriminate the optimum time of collection. Namely, dried state of tea leaves in one process of tea manufacturing is automatically measured and when the measured value becomes a given value, tea leaves can be automatically taken out.
