PURPOSE: To obtain the foam of reduced anisotropy in flame retardancy and lowered smoking properties by molding a composition containing a polyolefin resin and a flame-retarding material prepared by coating nuclear particles ofaflame retarder with a foaming agent, then heating the product to effect the cross-linking and the foaming. ;CONSTITUTION: A polyolefin such as a low-density polyethylene resin of 0.910 to 0.930g/cm3 density and 0.5 to 50g/10min. melt flow rate is mixed with a flame retardant material which is prepared by coating the nuclear particles of a flame retarder of a halogenated phosphorus compound containing 30 to 80wt.% of phosphorus and halogen in total such as tri(tribromoneopentyl) phosphate with a foaming agent such as azodicarbonamide to give a composition for flame-retardant resin foam. The composition is extruded through a T-die into long sheets, then the products are heated to effect cross-linking and foaming to give the objective flame-retardant resin foam with reduced anisotropy in flame retardancy.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
