PURPOSE:To enable prevention of curling and prevention of a printing stress from being transmitted to the back side, by using a plurality of synthetic papers consisting of multilayer stretched resin films as a base for an image-receiving sheet, and sandwiching between the synthetic papers an elastic resin layer richer in elasticity than the synthetic papers. CONSTITUTION:A laminate is used as a base in an image-receiving sheet for thermal transfer recording. The laminate comprises synthetic papers (a, c) which are formed of stretched products of polyolefin resin films containing an organic fine powder and have a multiplicity of minute voids therein, the synthetic papers (a, c) being adhered to the face and back sides of an elastic resin layer (b) having a Young's modulus measured by JIS P-8132 of 1-2000kg/cm2. The synthetic papers (a), (c) preferably have a void ratio of 20-50%. The elastic layer (b) is provided between the synthetic papers (a), (c) in order to absorb a compressive stress generated in the stretched multilayer polyolefin synthetic paper (a) closer to an image-receiving layer by heat supplied from a printing head and to prevent curling of the image-receiving sheet through utilizing the stiffness of the synthetic paper (c) on the side opposite to the image-receiving layer side.
