Porphyrin complex compounds, consisting of a meso-tetraphenyl- porphyrin ligand, if appropriate at least one ion of an element of atomic number 13, 21, 32, 37-39, 42-44, 49, 50 or 57-83 and, if appropriate, cations of inorganic and/or organic bases, amino acids or amino acid amides, are useful diagnostics and therapeutics.
