The present invention discloses a process for the activation of platinum-alumina catalysts employed in olefins C5 - C6 and refined isomerization process; characterized in that the catalyst is loaded to the reactor, and a mechanical arrangement is performed to ensure uniform flow profiles therein: The catalyst is loosely or densely loaded under an inert atmosphere into the reactor. Then the platinum is reduced to its zero valency state, at temperatures ranging between 150 and 500 degree C in the presence of hydrogen having a purity of 50 to 100 00 H-1; then the load is dried by passing it through columns packed with drierite to obtain humidity levels lower than 0.5 ppm to prevent the catalyst from being degraded due to water adsorption, at a temperature of 20 to 150 degree C and pressure higher than the atmospheric pressure, and GHVS of 200 to 8000 H-1 and a time of 1 to 8 hrs; finally the load is put into circulation, first passing to a sulphur guard system, to retain the sulphur contained in the load.
