Movement damping element for use with compact disc - provides flywheel inertial action to damp out rotation fluctuation caused by vibration or shock

The damping element is brought into contact with the rear side of the Compact Disc, before it is placed in the player. The element has a hole at the centre, similarly dimensioned to the hole through the CD. The function of the element is to provide an inertial stability to the rotating CD when it is subject to vibration or shock. One version (1) consists of a flat disc (2) with rubber protrusions (4) on one face. Other versions have circumferential lips which fit over the periphery of the CD.
