A reoxidation device for use in electrolytic baths used for deposition of a layer of Cr onto a substrate body, the device comprising a reservoir in which a cathode is mounted, one wall of the reservoir being made of a material that is liquid- tight and charge permeable; an anode situated outside the reservoir made of Pb or platinised Ti; an inlet connected to a pump for supply of an electrolyte solution from an electrolytic bath outside the reservoir to the reservoir partially immersed in the electrolytic bath; an outlet opening near the top end of the reservoir to allow electrolytic solution to overflow out of the reservoir and back into the bath; and terminals to connect the anode and cathode to a D.C. power supply.
