A boom (14) is pivotably connected to the frame (6) upper end part (9) via connecting components (12) e.g. chains which hold the boom parallel with the frame and which have a length which approximately corresponds with the bale (15) horizontal dim. at right-angles to the boom longitudinal direction. The frame has a pivot joint whose axis is horizontal and which is located at a level between that of the frame lower edge part (10) and that of the connecting component connection point (9) to the frame. The frame has a connection (11) to a power unit (8) on the vehicle which supports the frame via pivot joints. The power unit can exert a rotating torque on the frame to pivot it around its pivot joint, so that the distance between the boom and the frame lower edge part can be varied. The frame is flat and is vertically orientated in the neutral position. The frame lower edge has the form of a support beam which is pref. straight and extends horizontally.
