The invention pertains to electrical engineering and can be used in the production of chemical sources of electrical current with lithium anodes. The technical result is an increase in the useful life and operational safety of a rechargeable lithium-based source of electrical current. The source in question comprises a lithium anode (1) with a porous metal foil (4) to act as current collector; a separator (3); a non-aqueous electrolyte; and a cathode (2) with a current collector made from a porous metal foil. The active substance of the electrodes (1, 2) is held in the pores and/or on the surface of the appropriate current collectors. The cathode active material can also be present in the electrolyte. The porous metal foil (4) can be made from nickel with a thickness of 20-250 νm, a porosity of 30-60 % and a pore size of 1.0-40 νm.
