The arrangement is used for electronically regulating torques or rotation speeds of a three-phase asynchronous motor (5) allocated to a winding/unwinding cable drum (2) which winds in or pays out power cable (1) for an operating device such as a crane, excavator or lifting platform. The proposed arrangement has an intelligent frequency converter (7) controlling the pickup-less three-phase asynchronous motor (5) and a microprocessor (8) which is logically linked to and structurally integrated integrated with the frequency converter (7). The microprocessor (8) also controls a mechanical holding brake (10) for the three-phase asynchronous motor (5). The frequency converter (7) is provided with a software-supported plate for determining the operating parameters of the operating device, cable drum (2) and power supply cable (1). Those operating parameters are the following: the instantaneous position, direction of travel, speed and acceleration or deceleration of the operating device, the winding diameter, rotation speed, acceleration and deceleration of the cable drum (2), and the delivery direction and tension in the power supply line (1).
